TAH 2010
The Central Susquehanna IU is partnering with the PA Historical Museum Commission and the Capital Area IU to offer an in-depth study of the ideas, people and events that have shaped America’s early historical struggles, principles and achievements.
Native American and European Contact was designed to increase content knowledge in the area of American history. The goal of the program is to help teachers implement higher-order thinking strategies that will apply not only to American history courses, but to other K-6 subjects as well.

Program components
Introductory Forum – A one-day forum that will introduce core historical skills, interpretation, tools, sources and research techniques.
Summer Institute – A week-long institute will offer courses designed to increase American history content knowledge, along with field trips to museums and historic exhibits, and the creation of lesson plans.
Wiki Conversations – A series of monthly interactive online discussions will be offered on several scholarly works including historically-based children’s books and cultural artifacts.
Final Forum – A one-day wrap-up session will offer participants the opporunity to share lessons and evaluate activities.
